Petäjävesi

Petäjävesi [ pɛtæjævɛsi ] is a town in central Finland with 4098 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located approximately 30 km west of Jyväskylä. In addition to the community center belong to Petäjävesi nor the villages Kintaus, Kuivasmäki, Kumpujärvi, Rukoila, Piesala, Metsäkulma and Kukkaro.

The main attraction of the village is built wooden church Petäjävesi 1763-1765, which belongs to the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage.

Policy

As in most rural areas of Finland is Petäjävesi the Centre Party, the largest party. In the local elections 2008, she received 45.5 % of votes. In council, the highest decision-making body for local affairs, it presents ten of 21 deputies. The second largest group are the Social Democrats with four seats, followed by the conservative National Coalition Party with three seats. Furthermore, represented in the council are the Christian Democrats with two seats and the Left Alliance and the Green collar with one seat
