In 1951 he went to Red Star Belgrade, a year later to OFK Belgrade. In 1953 and 1955 he won with the previous club BSK twice the trophy. Until 1958, he played 93 games for the BSK / OFK Belgrade for whom he played until 1960.

On June 29, 1955, he married Olga Borić, a basketball player of the Yugoslav national team. In 1956 he won in Melbourne with the Yugoslav Olympic team silver medal. The finale on December 8, 1956 in Melbourne before 86 716 spectators was his second international match, and he was officially introduced to the legend goalkeeper Lev Yashin the winning team of the USSR. According Bausenwein Yashin said to have come in adopting the Olympic Village to Radenković and have given him his gloves. Radenković tried out the game with gloves and was so impressed by the new fishing feeling that he liked to miss it any more. Overall, it brought Radenković to 3 'A' matches. In 1958 he was drafted into the army, which prevented his participation in the World Cup. After the end of military service, he strove for a change to the top club Red Star Belgrade, but this was prevented by officials. For the OFK Belgrade he came in the season 1959/60 only three assignments.

Therefore Radenković left Yugoslavia in 1960 to Germany. First, he played in the 1961/62 season at Wormatia Worms in the Football Oberliga West. He could only intervene in the second half in the league Done With its one-year lock. The former keeper of OFK Belgrade debuted 18 games, 17 December 1961 at the home game against the VfR Kaiserslautern in the Oberliga West. Horst -Dieter line had played the first 17 games for the round Wormatia Worms and had thereby reached 18:16 points. With Radenkovic goal Worms came into the remaining 13 point games on 19:7 points, and the goalkeeper from Belgrade turned on March 25, 1962 in an away game against Mainz 05 a penalty kick. Coach Max Merkel won the "Catch artist " to the last league round 1962/63 to 1860 München in the Football Oberliga Süd. The seventh- round of the 1961/62 was due to the Bundesliga nomination for season 1963/64, under increased pressure to perform. "Radi " debuted on August 19, 1962 in a 1-0 away win at Hessen Kassel in the Oberliga Süd - but in the first round of the DFB - Pokal in 1962 he had already on 28 July in a 6-1 home win against Kassel his first competitive game for the traditional club from Giesing denied - and completed his first season for the "Lions" all 30 league games. With three points ahead of defending champion FC Nürnberg 1, the Merkel protégés brought the Cup to the south and were thus recorded as a founding member of the Bundesliga. The local rivals Bayern Munich was not enough to be third place, however, from the " Reds" were 1963/64, in the second-class football at Regionalliga Süd.

Bundesliga 1963-1970

Radenković one of the 176 football players who were on the opening day of the Bundesliga, August 24, 1963 in use. Among them next Radenković only three other foreigners were. 1860 München finished second in the Bundesliga debut round of the seventh and the goalkeeper had completed together with Rudolf Steiner, Manfred Wagner and the signing Otto Luttrop of Westfalia Herne every 30 round matches. With an average rating of 2.67 he ranked in the kicker ranking on the ninth rank of the player rating in the league, Luttrop was 2.90 listed as the second best " lion " players. The round was but crowned by winning the DFB - Cup 1964. In the semi-final success on June 3 at FC Altona 93 with a 4-1 victory after extra time, the performance of the Keepers was particularly singled out:

"Munich's coach Max Merkel was able to thank goalkeeper Petar Radenkovic, who had numerous fine saves to prevent the possible 2-0 for Altona. "

In the second year of the Bundesliga in 1964 /65 was missing "Radi " only in a game and the "Lions" occupied the fourth place. In the European Cup Winners Munich translated but international accents and came across three games in the semi-final against AC Torino in the final. Although the first leg on 20 April 1965, Stadio Comunale in Turin was lost with 0:2 gates, but the Munich goalkeeper got excellent reviews:

" The game ran with a few exceptions in one direction - into the Petar Radenkovic however excellently kept 60 stores. "

Even when won 2-0 playoff on May 5, 1965 at Letzigrund in Zurich the "Lion " goalkeeper was certified world-class shape. After losing 0-2 gates final on May 19 in London against West Ham United "Radi " Radenkovic summed together afterwards:

"We lost. But the great experience to have played in a final at Wembley and it looked good, that takes us no more. "

When the Merkel - Eleven in the 1965/66 season the league title to Munich took, was "Radi " in all 34 -rounds in the goal of the new German champion. He was the constant on the defensive and the offensive scoring with 80 goals, most goals in the Bundesliga this season. In defending the title in 1966 /67, a runner was added, but the subsequent decline of the " lions " continued through the internal turmoil one already. Peter Grosser, the then captain, is quoted with the following statement:

"The fact that we were cup winners 1964 and moved in the European Cup Final a year later, was also Merkel's merit. But Master, we have become, despite Merkel. "

Merkel deficits in the area of leadership - to fit the obligation of Wolfgang Fahrian to order the rebellious "Radi " hold small can - and the accumulated " debt mountain" that severely hampered the capacity of the organization, escalated with the separation of Merkel December 10, 1966. As it 1969/70 went in the seventh round of the Bundesliga, the "Blue " next to the goalkeeper only to Zeljko Perusic, Manfred Wagner and Rudolf Zeiser from the champion team of 1966 could fall back. Although Alfred came with hot and Wilfried Kohlars from 7 November, two reactivated player added, but under new coach Franz Binder could not be prevented the descent. "Radi " herded again in 32 league games the gate and experienced on March 7, 1970 after all, still a 2-1 victory over the reigning German champions, Bayern Munich in the derby against the "Reds ". The 34th game, May 3, 1970, the goalkeeper denied a 0-0 home draw against Rot -Weiss Essen his last league game for 1860 Munich. After eight rounds for the "Lions" the native of Belgrade ended in the summer of 1970 with 35 years of his active playing career. In legends in white and blue is noted that " despite Max Kob he's probably been the most popular goalkeeper in the Bundesliga, according to its own opinion anyway ' best goalkeeper of the world ' certainly the best goalkeeper in the history of 1860 and in his time. "

He wowed the audience with the then completely unusual travel away from the goal. Bausenwein describes that with the formulation "the most famous goalkeeper fielder in Germany but was certainly Petar Radenkovic from 1860 Munich ." In the season 1962/63 he made on matchday six in the derby against Bayern Munich the first of his later so famous excursions: with the ball at his feet he dribbled up into midfield. "Radi " was the first footballer in Germany, who conceived the turf of a stadium as a veritable show stage. He knew that it depends not only on good sports alone, of success and victory, but also on effects. He had his distinctive style. The "Radi " did more than just catch the balls and throw them back at the feet of his colleagues. He was a football entertainer. But based on his stage- sometimes comic deposits was his years of above-average goalie art. This was based on a premium position game, responsiveness, bounce, safety edge Balls, foresighted evaluating the game situation, ball handling, which enabled him, even outside the box to move safely with the ball and thereby bring fit your game in gear, as well as qualities the organization of the defensive formation.

Career next to the football

Radenković took the mid 1960s on records ( "Bin i Radi, bin i king" ), thus reaching even during his athletic career with a circulation of 400,000. He worked for his sporting career as a hotelier and restaurateur in Munich. Seven years after the end of his career came in 1977 to his farewell match 28,000 spectators to the Olympic Stadium, to see how the champion team of 1966, the current Lions squad defeated 4-1.
