Pete Brown

Peter Constantine Brown ( born December 25, 1940 in Ashtead, Surrey ) is a British poet and songwriter, who has also appeared as a singer. He wrote the lyrics to the Cream classics " I Feel Free", " SWLABR " and " Sunshine of Your Love".

Biography

At the age of 14 years, Brown published his first poem; later he was a member of the poetry scene of Liverpool, organized poetry readings in beatnik clubs and campaigned for Jazz & Poetry programs. Together with John McLaughlin, bassist Binky McKenzie, drummer and percussionist Pete Laurie Allan Bailey, he founded the First Real Poetry tape. Together with Jack Bruce, he has written a number of songs that were especially known by Cream. With Chris Spedding, Butch Potter ( b ), George Khan (sax ), Pete Bailey ( b ), Charlie Hart ( key) and Jamie Muir ( perc ), he founded the Battered Ornaments.

In addition, he also worked with Graham Bond and wrote the lyrics for Colosseum, his own group Pete Brown & Piblokto before! formed with Jim Mullen. After his jazz -and- poetry - plate The Not Forgotten Association and his " My Last Band" with guest appearances by Spedding and Dick Heckstall -Smith he retired in 1977 as a performer of the rock scene back. In 1993 he took part in the comeback album of Jack Bruce and realized with keyboardist Phil Ryan new own productions. Brown has also worked for the film as writer. In 2004 he founded together with Mark AJ Waters and Miran Hawke film production company Brown Waters.

2012/13 he was Blues at some concerts of the Hamburg band on the Anniversary Tour Special Guest. Thereafter he joined Clem Clempson.
