Peter and Gordon

Peter & Gordon were a British pop duo, which also celebrated major successes in the United States during the time of British invasion.

The duo Peter Asher (* June 22, 1944 ) and Gordon Waller ( born June 4, 1945, † 17 July 2009) was discovered in a Londonor Club in January 1964 by music producer Norman Newell. Peter's sister, actress Jane Asher, was friends with Paul McCartney. He wrote the song "A World Without Love " for the group - he became a bestseller and number one hit. In the following years Peter & Gordon published several more compositions by McCartney (with or without John Lennon), and this for the song " Woman" the pseudonym " Bernard Webb " used to see whether achieve success even without a known name. The success of the duo, produced by Norman Newell, based on the close harmony vocal style as with the Everly Brothers.

In 1968, the duo apart. Solo attempts by Gordon Waller failed. Peter Asher was only A & R manager at the Beatles Apple company and later a successful manager and producer of James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Randy Newman and many others.

Their song " A World Without Love" was added to the list of 500 songs that have the most impact on rock and roll, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In April 2006, Peter Asher and Gordon Waller were for the first time in 39 years back on stage together.
