Gordon Waller

Gordon Trueman Riviere Waller ( born June 4, 1945 in Braemar, Scotland, UK, † July 17, 2009 in Norwich, Connecticut, United States) was a Scottish singer, songwriter and guitarist. He was known primarily as a member of the pop duo Peter & Gordon.

Biography

At Westminster School Waller met the fellow Peter Asher, with whom he began performing as a musical duet, cafes and clubs. Starting in 1962, they called Peter & Gordon. In 1964, she had her biggest hit with A World Without Love, written by Paul McCartney, who was then with Jane Asher together. Through this acquaintance, the duo often unreleased material from McCartney received for recording.

After separation by Peter & Gordon to Waller tried a solo career. In 1968, his first single Rosecrans Boulevard, which was very unsuccessful as the successor. Also the debut album and Gordon (1972 ) sold poorly.

From 1971, Waller appeared as Pharaoh in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. In this role, he can also be heard on the 1974 released album of the musical.

Disappointed with the lack of breakthrough is Waller withdrew from the music business in the country. Later, Waller went to California, where he founded the music publishing "Steel Wallet International," with his partner Georgiana Steele.

Published in 2007, Waller 's solo album Plays the Beatles, followed in 2008 Rebel Rider. Since 2005, Peter Asher and Gordon Waller were uncommon back on together. They gave Their last concert in early July 2009 in Vegas.

Gordon Waller died in the same month after a heart attack in Connecticut, where he had last lived.
