Peter Cornelius (photographer)

Peter Cornelius ( * June 6, 1913 in Kiel, † September 5, 1970 ) was a German photographer and photojournalist.

After the Second World War, he began his career in his hometown of Kiel by reportage, landscape and sailing photography. From the mid- 1950s, he specialized in one of the first professional photographers in Germany in the field of color photography. In 1960, he was first known to a wider audience through the special magic of color during Photokina in Cologne. From 1963 to 1968 he worked as a visiting lecturer at the Ulm School of Design. His most famous work is the color image colored band Paris.

He was awarded the Culture Prize of the city of Kiel in 1972.
