Peter Dunne

Peter Dunne ( born March 17, 1954 in Christchurch ) is a New Zealand politician. He was party founder of Future New Zealand, Minister in the fourth Labour government under Geoffrey Palmer and Mike Moore, Minister in the subsequent government of Jim Bolger National Party and since 2000 leader of the United Future New Zealand.

Life and work

Education, career and family

Peter Dunne was born on March 17, 1954 in Christchurch. He attended St Bede 's College in Christchurch. His subsequent studies in political science, he graduated in 1977 at the University of Canterbury with a Master of Arts. A study of business administration at Massey University remained without a degree. In 1975 he was elected President of the Student Federation of the University of Canterbury gewählt.1976 Dunne married his wife Jennifer. The marriage produced two sons were born.

Political career

Dunne's political career began in 1972 with the entry into the Labour Party, to which he belonged until his resignation in October 1994. In the year of leaving, he founded the Future New Zealand Party, which changed its name in June 1995 in New Zealand and United on 16 November 2000 undertook a merger with a new Future New Zealand under Dunnes leadership that years earlier from the Christian Democrats Party was born. Dunne was leader of the newly formed party as United Future New Zealand and has held the office since that time. With Peter Dunne at the top of the party won in the 2002 parliamentary elections in the prior eight seats and 6.7 % of the votes cast. A televised debate of the party leaders, in Dunne could greatly score was, at the time the rash for electoral success. Nevertheless the party lost in the years to significantly votes, Peter Dunne continued to secure access to the Parliament each have won his direct mandate of his party. Due to the moderate policy, he represented Dune was always a welcome partner for the respective governments under Labour and National. In the legislative period 2011-2014, Peter Dunne Minister of Revenue ( government revenue ), Deputy Minister of Health and Deputy Minister for Nature Conservation. On June 7, 2013, he joined because of a " Leak Report" back because he did not comply with the policy guidance of the Prime Minister.
