Peter Ecklund

Peter Ecklund ( born 1945 in Woodbridge, Connecticut) is an American trumpeter and cornetist of the Oldtime Jazz and Swing.

Peter Ecklund completed his studies at Yale University in 1967, then worked first as a teacher, along with the folk and rock environment with musicians such as Gregg Allman, Maria Muldaur, Leon Redbone and Paul Butterfield. In the late 1960s he founded the Galvanized Jazz Band and toured with Paula Lockheart. He also played in the 1980s with Vince Giordano's Nighthawks Memphis, later with Madeleine Peyroux or Scott Foster. From the 1990s he made ​​a number of albums under his own name. He is also with Marty Grosz founding member of the Swing Quartet Orphan Newsboys and plays regularly at Michael's Pub in Woody Allen's band. He was with Marty Grosz, Ralph Sutton or his own groups both in Japan and in Europe on tour.

Ecklund published two monographs on Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke, treat, especially transcriptions of relevant solos.
