Peter Evans (musician)

Peter Evans ( born 1981 ) is an American trumpeter has chosen to live in New York City. He is known especially for genre - border improvisational music, as well as performances and composition in jazz, classical and new music.

Life

Evans graduated from the late 1990s, Oberlin College, graduating from the music branch of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. Together with his student friend Moppa Elliott he went in 2003 as a professional musician in New York City that brought him as much as the saxophonist Jon Irabagon and drummer Kevin Shea as a founding member in his band Mostly Other People Do the Killing.

As more experimental musicians Evans passed continuously the genre boundaries, stepped in chamber orchestras as well as in free-jazz settings on, in bands and solo as a performance artist. At the annual Festival of New Trumpet Music in New York City, he is one of the regular participants. His tours have taken him throughout North America and to Europe several times.

His solo trumpet album More Is More was released in 2006 on Evan Parker's psi label, the debut album as a leader entitled The Peter Evans Quartet came in 2007 at Firehouse 12 Records out. To the main cast of this quartet include Brandon Seabrook, Tom Blanc Arte and Kevin Shea. In addition, he is also a member of the quartet Mostly Other People Do the Killing, the freestyle duo Sparks with Tom Blanc Arte, the histrionics, the free-jazz quintet Carnival Skin ( with Klaus Kugel, Perry Robinson, Hilliard Greene and Bruce Eisenbeil ), the project Language of with Charles Evans and the Christmas duet with trombonist Sam Kulik. He also worked on the album The Moment's Energy by Evan Parker.

In New York the trumpeters also occurs frequently with contemporary ensembles for contemporary music, such as the International Contemporary Ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, Continuum Ensemble and 21 on the piccolo trumpet he gives Baroque music concerts, such as the Brandenburg Concertos No.. 2 in the Brooklyn Bargemusic series and Bach's B Minor Mass in St. Peter's Church.
