Peter H. Kostmayer

Peter Houston food Mayer ( born September 27, 1946 in New York City ) is an American politician. Between 1977 and 1981, and again from 1983 to 1993, he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Peter Kost Mayer attended the public schools of his native New York as well as in Solebury ( Pa.). In 1965 he graduated from the West Nottingham Academy in Colora (Maryland). This was followed up in 1971 to study at Columbia University in New York. In the years 1971 and 1972 he worked as a reporter. From 1972 to 1973 he was spokesman for the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. Thereafter he served until 1976 as deputy press secretary of the local governor. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1976 was Kostmayer in the eighth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Edward G. Biester on January 3, 1977. After a re-election he was able to initially complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1981. In 1980, he was defeated by Republican James K. Coyne. Two years later he moved again for the eighth district of his state in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he Coyne replaced again on January 3, 1983. After four re- elections, he could spend another five in 1993 legislative sessions in Congress until January 3. In 1992 he was not re-elected.

In the years 1994 and 1995 food Mayer worked for the State Environmental Protection Agency in Philadelphia. Later he was president of the organization Zero Population Growth. In 2002, he ran unsuccessfully for the Senate of Pennsylvania. Today, he led the organization Citizens Committee for New York City.
