Peter Kassovitz

Peter Kassovitz ( born November 17, 1938 in Budapest ) is a French film director, screenwriter, and film actor of Hungarian origin.

Short Biography

Peter Kassovitz was born to Jewish parents in Budapest. With 5 years in 1943, he had to watch as his parents were deported by the German occupiers. Protected by a Catholic family survived the Holocaust Kassovitz and looked surprisingly his parents again, who had survived the concentration camps.

1956, due to the Hungarian uprising Kassovitz fled to Paris, where he still lives today. He became a French citizen, and in 1964 began his career as a director.

Although in France Kassovitz ' movies are known as in German-speaking countries, but at least to the 1999 film drama produced on the Holocaust Jacob the Liar is his most famous work. For his work he was nominated at the International Film Festival of Valladolid for the Golden Spike.

His son is the active as an actor and director Mathieu Kassovitz.
