Peter Kurer

Peter Courier ( born June 28, 1949) is a Swiss manager. He was since 23 April 2008 Board Chairman of UBS and successor of Marcel Ospel. Previously, he was a member of the UBS Group Executive Board since 2002. On 4 March 2009, it was announced that Courier will not stand for election again at the General Meeting of UBS on 15 April 2009.

Life

The gymnasium has Peter Kurer in the Jesuit College in Feldkirch (Vorarlberg) and the Capuchin College in Appenzell completed ( Swiss baccalaureate type A). He then graduated from the University of Zurich to study law with specialization Constitutional and Administrative Law, where he graduated with a doctorate. Peter Courier is the owner of the Zurich law attorney. He also has a Master of Law (LL.M. ) from the University of Chicago. In addition to studying Peter Kurer was worked as a journalist, including for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ ).

First, he was a law clerk at the District Court of Zurich. Between 1980 and 1990 he worked at Baker & McKenzie in Zurich, first as an associate and then as a partner. From 1991 to 2001, Peter Kurer senior partner of the Homburger law firm in Zurich.

Peter Kurer initiated in 1996, the merger of the two former Basel-based pharmaceutical and chemical company Ciba -Geigy and Sandoz to form Novartis. He had the complicated legal contracts accompanied in connection with investments in foreign airlines at the former SAirGroup.

2011 Courier has several corporate and financial advisory mandates and lectures internationally before businessmen and politicians. He is married, father of three grown children and lives in Herrliberg.
