Peter Longerich

Peter Longerich ( born 1955 in Krefeld, Germany ) is a German historian.

Longerich received his doctorate in 1983 under Gerhard A. Ritter at the University of Munich with a thesis on the Press Department of the Foreign Office under Ribbentrop. From the contemporary reception was praised at Long Eric's thesis that he has a " research gap closed" did with his profound study " on their own " operated foreign propaganda of the Foreign Office, as previous work had been fixed almost exclusively on Joseph Goebbels ' propaganda apparatus. From 1984 to 1989, Longerich assistant at the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich. 2002/ 03 he was a visiting professor at the Fritz Bauer Institute, and then conducted research in 2003/ 04 as JB and Maurice Shapiro Senior Scholar in Residence at the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. He is a professor at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, London University and the Director of The Research Centre for the Holocaust and Twentieth - Century History.

Longerich is a specialist in the history of Nazi Germany and particularly the Holocaust.
