Peter Märthesheimer

Peter Märthesheimer ( born July 9, 1937 in Kiel, † 18 June 2004 ) was a German screenwriter, film producer and novelist.

Life

Märthesheimer studied economics and sociology in Frankfurt am Main. From 1964 on, he was for ten years editor and dramaturg at the WDR, then until 1981 at Bavaria Film. In 1994 he became professor of screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Film Academy Baden- Wuerttemberg. He was also a consultant for dramaturgy at the University of Television and Film Munich and the BKM.

He wrote in collaboration with Pea Fröhlich inter alia the screenplays for the Rainer Werner Fassbinder films The Marriage of Maria Braun and Veronika Voss. In the film Martha, he was a producer. Also in the TV series Eight Hours Do not day and Berlin Alexanderplatz he cooperated with Fassbinder. In collaboration with Wolfgang amount he created the sensational television productions The Millionenspiel and smog as well as the unconventional family series A heart and a soul.

In 2000 he published the novel I am the Other. He sat apart in the book with the subject of multiple personalities.
