Peter Norvig

Peter Norvig (born 12 May 1956) is an American scientist in the field of artificial intelligence, author and programmer. Currently working as Norvig Director of Research at Google Inc.

Biography

In 1985, Norvig studying computer science at the University of Berkeley with a Ph.D. from. He then worked at various startups and Sun Microsystems. From 1998 to 2001 he was the Head of the Department of Computer Science of the Ames Research Center of NASA. Since 2001 he works for Google.

Since 2006 he is a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery. In 2013 he was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Norvig is also known for the PowerPoint version of the Gettysburg Address, a satire of bad presentations. Norvigs Erdős number is four.
