Peter O'Brien (actor)

Peter O'Brien ( born March 25, 1960 in Murray Bridge, South Australia ) is an Australian actor.

Life

O'Brien was the son of Jack and Betty O'Brien at Jervois, Murray Bridge, was born, where he grew up. First, he took up a teaching degree and also worked briefly as a teacher at Mercedes College in Springfield, Adelaide. He sent a video of himself to Grundy Light Entertainment in the hope of becoming an actor. A short time later he got his first role in the short-lived television series Starting Out. Had great success as Shane O'Brien Ramsey in the family series neighbors, in which he appeared from 1985 to 1987. For this role he was nominated for a 1987 Logie Award for Most Popular Actor. After his departure from neighbors he spent two years as a pilot to see Sam Patterson in The Flying Doctors. O'Brien then went to England, where he, inter alia, starred in series such as Queer as Folk ( 1999), but also participated in theater productions such as The Wizard of Oz and The Pirates of Penzance. After his return to Australia he has appeared Nora in A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen.

For his role in the television series White Collar Blue, he was awarded in 2003 with a Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Actor in category In A Drama Series. He was also nominated in 2002 for an award of Australia Film Institute in the Best Actor category in a Leading Role in a Television Drama.

Since 1 January 2003, O'Brien is with the actress Miranda Otto, daughter of Barry Otto, married. The two have a daughter. Previously, he was married from 1990 to 1994 to actress Joanna Riding.
