Peter Price (bishop)

Peter Bryan Price ( born May 17, 1944) is a British Anglican clergyman. He was from 2001 to 2013 Bishop of Bath and Wells.

Life

He was trained as a teacher and worked as a teacher until he was accepted at Oak Hill Theological College. In 1974 he was ordained a deacon in 1975, he was ordained a priest. He worked four years in church service at Christ Church in Port Down. Then he became chaplain at the Scargill Community in North Yorkshire By 1978 until 1980. Eight years he served as pastor at St. Mary 's active in Addiscombe, first as a senior priest and later as vicar. From 1988 to 1991 he was residentiary Canon and Chancellor of Southwark Cathedral.

Price was appointed in 1992 to the Secretary General of the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel ( USPG ) and visited more than 20 countries. From 1997 to 2001 he was Suffragan Bishop of Kingston -upon -Thames. Him the Cross of Nails was awarded in 1999.

Peter Price in 2001 was appointed the 77th Bishop of Bath and Wells. As a clergyman, he was Lord from 2008 to 2013 member of the House of Lords. End of June 2013 Price went into retirement.

He spoke regularly on the radio at BBC World Service and Independent Radio in London, and worked on a series for BBC Radio 2, as well as Newsnight. Price has written several books; last appeared in 2002 Under Song - Listening to the Soul.

Family

Price is married to Dee since 1967 and has four adult sons.
