Peter von Siemens

Peter von Siemens ( born January 29, 1911 in Charlottenburg, † 23 May 1986 as Munich) was a German industrialist and 1971-1981 Chairman of the Board of Siemens AG. Siemens was also anthroposophist and conductor.

Life

Peter was born in 1911 from Siemens, the son of the engineer Werner Ferdinand von Siemens in Charlottenburg. He is the grandson of Wilhelm von Siemens and the great-grandson of Werner von Siemens. He grew up in the Siemens villa in Berlin - Lankwitz, which was known for its house concerts, where other family members actively participated.

After graduation, he earned a degree in economics and political science at the universities of Freiburg, Munich, Cologne and Rostock and a doctorate then. In 1934 he joined the firm of Siemens & Halske. In 1935 he married the pianist Julia Lienau; he himself was trained as a concert conducted conductor and later also occasionally the Munich Philharmonic at private concerts and recordings. The couple had a son, Peter C. von Siemens ( b. 1937 ), who represented from 1993 to 2008, the founding family of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG and previously was a member of the Board, as well as a daughter Katharina ( b. 1938 ), the force with Prince of Hohenlohe - Öhringen is married.

1936 took over Peter von Siemens senior sales positions in the field of medical Siemens -Reiniger-Werke with a focus on Brazil and Argentina, it was from this time on, during the Second World War until 1948 in South America. From 1950 on, he worked in the central sales administration Siemens -Schuckert in Erlangen. In 1959 he was appointed to the Managing Board of Siemens -Schuckert -Werke, in 1963 the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG. From 1971 to 1981 he was Chairman of the Board of Siemens AG. Under his leadership, Siemens AG became the fifth largest consumer electronics company in the world.

His final resting place is in the family grave of the Siemens family on the West Stahnsdorf.
