Petrel (rocket)

Petrel was a British sounding rocket. The Petrel 1 was launched as the Skua 1 with three booster rockets of the type chick. The Petrel 1 was 3.34 m long, had a diameter of 19 centimeters and reached a peak altitude of 140 kilometers. The Petrel was launched for the first time on 8 June 1967 in South Uist. In 1977, an improved version, the Petrel 2, with a peak altitude of 175 kilometers, was first used.
