Petrova, MaramureÈ™

Petrova (Ukrainian Петрова / Petrova, Hungarian Petrova ) is a town in Maramureş County in northern Romania.

Geographical Location

The village is located on the National Road (drum National) DN 18, about midway between Sighetu Marmaţiei and Viseu de Sus. The county road (drum Judetean ) DJ 185 branches approximately in the center off to Valea Viseului. Along the village flows the river Vişeu.

The station is served by the railway line Valea Viseului - Borsa.

History

The place Petrova was first in 1385 as a villa Viso inferiori; 1411 under the name Petrova mentioned in a document.
