Petrus von Hatzfeld

Peter of Hatzfeld (* 1748 in Münster, † April 24, 1823 in Boesfeld, today Herzebrock- Clarholz ) was a priest and abbot of the monastery of Marienfeld.

Peter of Hatzfeld was born in 1748 as the youngest of three brothers as Franz Wilhelm Hunold von Hatzfeld in Münster. His father was Johann Caspar von Hatzfeld Domkapitelsgograf. The baptism he received on September 8, 1748 in St. Ludgeri in Münster. His eldest brother, Paul, joined the Cistercian monastery of Marienfeld and was confessor at the convent Rulle and in 1800 dean in Harsewinkel.

Franz Wilhelm Hunold took effect on November 1, 1766 under the name of Peter in the monastery of Marienfeld one. On June 18, 1772, he received his priestly ordination on 21 August 1779, he was named to the monastery cook. Abbot Stephen Pöttken appointed him on November 3, 1785 confessor of the convent Bersenbrueck, which was subordinate to the monastery of Marienfeld since the mid-15th century. On October 7, 1794 Peter of Hatzfeld was elected to the 48th and last abbot and prelates of Marienfeld. After Reichsdeputationshauptschluss the Royal Prussian Government informed the Marienfelder Convention on 21 March 1803, the dissolution of the monastery with which was completed on 29 March 1803.

Abbot Peter the left Marienfeld 5000 Florin pension to his younger brother to Stromberg. On April 24, 1823, he died in Boesfeld. He was buried in Herzebrock.
