History

Stromberg was first mentioned in 1177 as a country castle of the Bishops of Münster ( Westphalia). Until 1803 it was fürstbischöflicher County, afterwards titular independent.

On January 1, 1975 Stromberg was incorporated into Oelde.

The Holy Cross

The cross is the destination point of annual pilgrimages, perform the numerous pilgrims from Westphalia and the Rhineland to Stromberg.
