PFC Spartak Varna

PFC Spartak Varna is a Bulgarian football club from the port city of Varna. Currently the club plays in the first division of Bulgaria.

History

The club was founded on August 28, 1918 under the name Sokol New Bulgarian Varna. On January 30, 1924, the club merged with Shipka Varna, the newly formed club took the name Schipenski Sokol Varna. After the club was in 1931 became Bulgarian runner-up, scored a year later winning the title.

On 18 October 1945, the club merged with local rivals Levski Varna and Varna Rakowski. The newly formed club was named Spartak Varna. In honor of Stalin, the city was renamed Varna, and the club was in 1949 the name Spartak Stalin. In 1956 he received the original name. In 1961 Spartak the final of the Bulgarian Cup, but CSKA Sofia was beaten clearly with 0:3.

1969 Lokomotiw Varna was incorporated, the ZSK Spartak Varna emerged. 1983 reached the club back against CSKA Sofia the final of the national cup. With the 0:4 defeat this time was even more pronounced. Three years later, a re-naming, since borne the club the current name.

For many years played Spartak class in A Grupa before you descent into B Grupa after the 1993/94 season as a Table.
