Dune Stinkhorn ( Phallus Hadriani )

The Dune Stinkhorn ( Phallus Hadriani ) is a species of fungus in the family Stinkmorchelverwandten ( Phallaceae ).

Features

The Dune Stinkhorn young forms a ball to ovoid 3-7 cm wide Hexenei sitting in the first floor, but is lifted during growth. His peridium colors in the air quickly from white to pink to purple, which distinguishes it from the commons Stinkmorchel whose Hexenei also in the air white to pale ochraceous remains. The receptaculum ( the stalk of the fruiting body ) is 10-20 cm long and 2-3 cm wide, it is white and hollow. At the end of Receptaculums sits a hat, on its outer side, the dark green to olive gleba is. The disc at the top of the cap has a serrated edge. The Dune Stinkhorn gives off a strong odor that smells not unlike the commons Stinkmorchel of carrion.

Ecology

The Dune stinkhorn grows on sandy dry grass, in bushes and sparse pine forests on calcareous sands flight, where they apparently lived saprobiontisch. In addition, they can impermanent occur on sandy soils in gardens, fields and vineyards. The fruiting bodies appear in central Europe from July to December.

Dissemination

The Dune Stinkhorn comes from Europe prior to Central Asia and North America. In Europe, their range extends from the Mediterranean to Ireland, Scotland and Scandinavia, where it grows in coastal dunes. It also comes from South Eastern Europe before to Hungary, Bohemia and Upper Rhine Plain in sands of the dry and warm areas. In Germany, the species is rare in Switzerland, she occurs only sporadically to Breitenbach and Kränzlin and is probably introduced here. In Australia phallus Hadriani has been introduced.

Importance

The Dune Stinkhorn Mushroom is not, however it is to conserve because of their rarity.
