Phew (singer)

Phew (* 1959 ) is a Japanese singer in the rock and avant-garde jazz.

Life

Phew in the late 1970s was a member of the punk band Aunt Sally. In 1981 she took with Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit (both of Can ) and Jah Wobble ( Public Image Ltd.). In the studio of Conny Plank their first, self-titled solo album. The album was later repeatedly to extend additional tracks, re-released on CD, most recently 2005. 1987 and 1995 followed her album View Himitsu no knife, both with Tatsuo Kondo ( keyboards, and other instruments) and other Japanese musicians. In between, she published in 1992 with Our Likeness another, in the studio recorded by Conny Plank album, on the next Jaki Liebezeit Alexander Hacke was also represented by Einstürzende Neubauten. Chrislo Haas (DAF, Der Plan) played saxophone on " Like Water and Water".

In June 2001, she published with The Unknown Cases, a project by Helmut Zerlett, the songs " Koyasan " and " Mishiho ". In 2009 they had a collaboration with Bikke, an old companion of Aunt Sally. In 2010 she put her solo album before Five Finger Discount, which also includes a cover version of "Love Me Tender ". In addition to Japanese colleagues Jim O'Rourke was involved as bassist and keyboard player. In June 2011 she took with Seiichi Yamamoto at Tonofon Festival in Tokorozawa part, two pieces later appeared on a DVD of the festival. 2012 was followed by a collaboration with Erika Kobayashi and Dieter Moebius as Project Undark ( Radium Girls 2011 ).
