Phil Alden Robinson
Phil Alden Robinson ( born March 1, 1950 in New York City ) is an American film director and screenwriter.
Life
His career in film began Robinson as a screenwriter in the early 1980s, when he two scripts for the television series Trapper John, MD wrote.
In 1987 he made his debut as a director with the comedy In the Mood for which he also wrote the screenplay himself. In 1989 Field of Dreams with his second film as a director. For this production, Robinson was nominated for the Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Award.
In 2001, he directed an episode of the miniseries Band of Brothers - Band of Brothers. Feet this work was awarded the Emmy along with the other participating directors.
For his 2000 song directed film Freedom ( Freedom March ) Robinson was honored by the Writers Guild of America with the WGA Award for television. As early as 1994 he had received the Valentine Davies Award.
