Phil Carmichael

Phillip Peter " Phil" Carmichael ( born January 25, 1884 Brisbane suburb of Sandgate, Queensland, † September 1973 ) was an Australian rugby union player who has been with the rugby union selection of his home, the Wallabies, 1908 Olympic champion. Carmichael was a very successful goal - kicker and on the three- quarter line, usually as a goalkeeper, but also as an outer three-quarters, at home.

Biography

Carmichael began with the rugby at his school, St Joseph's Gregory Terrace in Brisbane, from a total of 28 games, he led the team five times as captain. After graduating, he played club rugby for successively South Brisbane, North Brisbane and Christian Brothers ' Football Club. For Brothers ' FC, ​​he moved in 1906, when this first took part in the play mode of the top rugby union league of Queensland; for the second year he led them as captain to their first state championship of Queensland.

In 1903 he played his first game of a total of 28-1909 for state selection of Queensland, against the touring England team to Australia and was appointed to Brisbane for his performance in the Australian team for the match against England in 1904.
