Philip Dietrich, Count of Waldeck

Philipp Dietrich ( partly Philipp Theodor ) ( born November 2, 1614 Arolsen, † December 7, 1645 in Korbach ) was from 1640, Count of Waldeck -Eisenberg.

Family

He was the son of the Count of Waldeck -Eisenberg Wolrad IV and his wife Anna von Baden -Durlach, heiress to the rule Cuylenburg in today's Netherlands. He married in 1639 in Cuylenburg Countess Maria Magdalena von Nassau-Siegen. With this he had several children, including his successor, Henry Wolrad. Another son, Florent William died, even as a child. The daughter Amalie Katharina was by marriage Countess of Erbach- Erbach.

Life

From the hereditary right of his mother received Philipp Dietrich Kinsweiler, angel village, Frechen and Bachem in the Eifel. He made several trips to France and Italy, and stood for a while in the Dutch military services.

In 1639, Graf Florence died of Pallandt, the owner of the dominions Culemborg, Werth, Wittem and Pallant. Through his mother Philipp Dietrich inherited these possessions. He took over in 1640, the domination of the county of Waldeck- Eisenberg. He resided partly at the castle Eisenberg, partly in Cuylenburg. About parts of the possessions in the Eifel it came to lengthy legal battles. Finally, the waldeckischen claims were resigned.
