Philip Major

Philip Major ( born December 8, 1988 in Ottawa ) is a Canadian racing driver.

Career

Major began his motorsport career in 2003 in karting, where he was active until 2004. After he had committed a year in club racing, he moved in 2006 to Formula racing and launched in the U.S. Formula BMW. After 22 overall in his first season was in 2007 with a podium placing tenth in the drivers' standings.

2008 Major moved to Europe and entered for Fortec Motorsport in the British Formula 3 Championship. While his teammate Marcus Ericsson and Sebastian Hohenthal could score points on a regular basis, the Canadians never came across a ninth place out. At the end of the season, he finished 18th overall. In 2009 he moved to the middle of the season for the champion team Carlin and improved in the standings to 17th place.

2010 Major returned to North America and started for Sam Schmidt Motorsports in the Indy Lights. After he finished the race regularly in the top ten pilots, he scored his first podium placing third in Joliet. In contrast to three of his teammates, Jean Karl Vernay, Pippa Mann and Wade Cunningham, he could win a race. At the end of the season, he finished ninth overall.
