Philipp Bruch

Philipp Bruch ( born February 11, 1781 in Zweibrücken, † February 11, 1847 ) was a German pharmacist and Bryologe. His botanical author abbreviation is " broken ".

Philipp fraction was born in Zweibrücken in the Palatinate. His father was the pharmacist Johann Christian breakage. Philipp break first learned in a pharmacy in Main and then studied in Marburg and Paris. At the age of 21, he took over after the death of his father, his father's pharmacy in Zweibrücken. His interest in botany aroused a meeting with the scientists MDJ chef who was working on a description of the German and Swiss fauna. He worked intensively with mosses and worked with Wilhelm Philipp Schimper and Wilhelm Theodor Gümbel to the six -volume work Bryologia europaea, a monograph on European mosses together.
