Philippe Kruchten

Philippe Kruchten (* 1952 ) is a French computer scientist who has worked in Canada. He developed the Rational Unified Process ( RUP), a process for software development, and the concept of 4 1 views of software architecture.

Kruchten studied from 1975 to 1978 at the École Centrale de Lyon and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications. Subsequently, he worked among others at Telic - Alcatel as a software designer. He received his doctorate from the École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in 1986. From 1987 to 2003 he worked for Rational Software in Vancouver. There he was since 1996 Director of Process Development and developed the RUP. Even after the sale of the company to IBM, he kept holding his position. Since 2004 he has been Professor of Software Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
