Polymetme corythaeola

The luminous fish ( Phosichthyidae ) are a living in the Atlantic, the Pacific and the Indian Ocean family of deep sea fishing. In addition to the bristle mouths genus Cyclothone Vinciguerria is regarded as one of the two individual- richest vertebrate genera of the world.

Features

You, 4.5 to 30 centimeters long and usually have the slender bodies of their relatives, the bristle mouths ( Gonostomatidae ). There are light organs on the underside of the body. Both young and old animals have well-developed gill rakers. Their dorsal fin is supported by 10 to 16, the anal fin 12-33 fin rays. All glowing fish, except for the genus Yarrella, have a dorsal fin. A Bartel the lower jaw, as it exists in many other jaw Stach learning, is absent in the luminous fishes.

The luminous fish, however, are considered to be paraphyletic, including 24 species in seven genera.
