Photosynth is a published from the Microsoft Live Labs panoramic and 3D modeling software that combines Photo Tourism and Seadragon. It allows photos of known locations from different sources merge into a 3D space, through which the user can move through and then create panoramic images. When compiling the photos, the generation of the 3D space and the stitching panoramas, the software operates automatically. It detects outlines, articles, camera positions and angles; On this basis, the images are linked together. In the Windows Phone and Apple iOS version of Photosynth panorama while shooting (through the app ) is already merged.

Since it is possible, panoramic views and 3D photo spaces ( so-called " synths " ) that were created with Photosynth to integrate into Bing Maps, the combination of Photosynth and Bing Maps is in competition with Google Street View. While Google Street View can only provide views of locations, which are available from car manufactures, the combination of Photosynth and Bing Maps Advanced options: it can be included views of places that are away from roads and streets, and it is also possible integrate images of building interiors.

Compatibility

The software requires Microsoft Silverlight and is compatible with the web browsers Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. For the creation of your own synths a Windows Live ID is required. It currently supports only Microsoft operating systems for computers, Mac OS X and Linux but the viewing of synths by Moonlight possible. Also, there is for the Windows Phone and the iPhone app Photosynth as ( however, only the creation of panoramas supported).
