Piedmont is a city in Alameda County in the U.S. state of California, United States. She had 2004 10.800 inhabitants and is located on the eastern side of the bay from San Francisco. The city is completely surrounded by the larger city of Oakland. The geographic coordinates are: 37.82 ° N, 122.23 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 4.4 km ².

Piedmont was raised in 1907 by popular vote to the city, to avoid incorporation of the settlement by the neighboring Oakland. The town is a small, affluent suburban community within the metropolitan area of San Francisco and is characterized by its many avenues, good schools and a low crime rate. The property prices of the city are therefore significantly higher than the already low level of non- San Francisco region.
