Pierre Amoyal

Pierre Amoyal ( born June 22, 1949 in Paris ) is a French violinist and conductor.

At the age of twelve he received the first prize for violin at the Paris Conservatoire. He then studied for five years with Jascha Heifetz in Los Angeles. At 22 he was with the Orchestre de Paris under the baton of Georg Solti its European debut. Amoyal played under conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Pierre Boulez and Lorin Maazel with the most famous orchestras in the world.

With the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Maazel he played the German premiere of the Violin Concerto by Henri Dutilleux. He went into the house's history as the youngest professor at the Paris Conservatory. He currently teaches at the Conservatoire de Lausanne in Lausanne and directs the at his suggestion, founded chamber orchestra " Camerata de Lausanne ".

Amoyal plays the " Kochanski " Stradivarius of 1717. The instrument was stolen in 1987, but in 1991 again found.
