Pierre Boquin

Pierre Bouquin (* early 16th century in western France, † 1582 in Lausanne ) was a French Reformed theologian.

Life

Pierre Bouquin was probably born 1510-1515 in western France. 1539 awarded him the University of Bourges by dortigem study the theological doctorate. He was shortly afterwards first a monk and later became prior of the Carmelite order, left this in 1541, however, because he zuwand the Reformation, and fled over Basel, Leipzig, Wittenberg; in September 1542 he was appointed to the University of Strasbourg. Towards the end of the year, however, he moved back to Bourges, to teach at the local university.

Also Bouquin was there preacher, but shortly afterwards was deprived of this office because of his evangelical convictions. That's why he was indicted by the Archbishop of Paris, escaped the whole, however, when he returned fleeing in 1555 to Strasbourg. There they made ​​him a 1555 for two years as a minister of a French community.

For a professor of theology at the University of Heidelberg, he was appointed in 1558; since the previous year, he lived in the city. When Frederick III. died on 26 October 1576, his son Louis VI. his successor and tried to Lutheranism against the Reformed Church to enforce again in the Palatinate. To this end, he deposed, among other Reformed teachers and preachers; thus Bouquin lost his position. Therefore, he went to Lausanne to become Professor in 1578 and also preacher at the university in the year. Four years later he died.
