Pierre Mignard

Pierre Mignard (* November 17, 1612 in Troyes, † May 30, 1695 in Paris ) was one of the most important French portrait - painter in the era of the classical Baroque style.

Mignard coined together with Philippe de Champaigne and Hyacinthe Rigaud the development of the genre in the 17th century. Both church paintings he created ( dome image in Val- de -Grace, Paris) especially Madonnas, so-called " Mignardes " such as La Vierge à la grappe, as well as mythological and allegorical works.
