Pierrecourt, Haute-Saône

Pierrecourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pierre Court is located at an altitude of 278 m above sea level, 7 km north-east of Champlitte and about 56 km northwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the west of the département, in the plateau between the valleys of the salon and Vannon, northwest of Saônetals.

The area of ​​15.60 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the rolling countryside of north of Saônetals. The plateau landscape is on average 280 m and has a plurality of troughs and sinks, including the Combe d' Ambresse west of the village, the topographical part of the catchment area of ​​the salon. The plateau consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the middle and upper Jurassic period. On the plateau dominates agricultural use, but there are larger areas of forest, particularly along the town limits. To the south extends the community site in the Bois de Groslières, west to the Bois de la Belle Voie (323 m) and north to the Trembloy (314 m). In the east the forest heights of Mont Aubert form the boundary with the Bois de l'Hospice ( to 360 m). Northeast of the village is the hill of Saint- Martin, on the 362 meters, the highest elevation of Pierrecourt is achieved. On the territory there are no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

To Pierrecourt next several farmsteads are two hamlets, namely:

  • Aumônières (262 m) in the valley of Combe Rouge
  • Saint -Martin ( 362 m ) on the same hill

Neighboring communities of Pierrecourt are Argillières in the north, Fouvent -Saint- Andoche and Larret in the east, Courtesoult -et- Gatey in the south and Champlitte in the West.

History

Through the municipal area led the Roman Road from Besancon to Langres. Finds of Roman wall foundations, coins and tombs in the 19th century point to an early settlement of the area.

The oldest settlement of modern point of the environment is Aumônières. Here the canons of Saint -Antoine founded in 1095 by a Coming. Pierrecourt is mentioned as Petrecuria, Pirrecort and Pierrecort. The place name derives from the Latin personal name Peter and the word Cortem (Hof ) from. In the Middle Ages Pierrecourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had to 1228 held by the Lords of Fouvent, when the area passed by marriage to the family Vergy and thus to the dominions Autrey and Champlitte. The place was looted and burned in 1569 by troops of the Duke of Zweibrücken. Also, during the Thirty Years War Pierrecourt in 1636 strongly affected. In 1650, the town was rebuilt at its present location again. Together with the Franche -Comté came Pierrecourt with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Pierrecourt is a member of the comprehensive 42 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Quatre Rivières.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Martin shows components from different eras. The oldest parts, especially the Gothic side chapels date from the 14th century, while the ship was rebuilt in the 18th century. The church has a remarkable marble high altar. From the former hospital and the chapel ( 15th century ) of the Coming Aumônières are preserved ruins.

Population

With 132 inhabitants (2007 ) Pierrecourt one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, the population decreased continuously (1881 were still 427 persons counted ).

Economy and infrastructure

Pierrecourt is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Vaite after Chassigny. Further road links exist with Champlitte and Argillières.
