Piersele

Piersele ( German Perscheln ) is a village in the north of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is located in the powiat Bartoszycki ( circle Bartenstein ) and belongs to the Gmina Bartoszyce (Town Bartenstein ).

Geographical location

Piersele is located about four kilometers southeast of the county town Bartoszyce, two miles south of the border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast in the historical East Prussia.

History

Piersele was a noble estate. The house was newly built in the second half of the 18th century. At the beginning of the 19th century the estate was owned by members of Falkenhayn family. To 1807, the retired captain Bernhard von Falkenhayn was the squire. At the time of the Battle of Eylau in February 1807 Prussian military hospital was set up at the mansion. Before 1833 the estate had an area of 848 morning, and in the village lived in nine households a total of 63 residents. Since the second half of the 19th century the estate was owned by a branch of the family mountain.

Perscheln belonged until 1945 to the district Bartenstein ( Ostpr. ) in the district of Königsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia. The manor house was the Second World War largely undamaged.

After the war Perscheln was made in 1945 with the southern East Prussia under Polish administration. The estate was converted into an agricultural state-owned enterprise, and the village was awarded the Polish place names Piersele. The manor house fell apart and was later aborted completely.

The village is now a part of the rural community in Bartoszyce powiat Bartoszycki the Warmia and Mazury ( Olsztyn Voivodeship 1975-1998 ).
