The Piesting is a river in Southern Lower Austria. The valley west of the thermal line in the Gutensteiner Alps is called Piestingtal.

Landscape and run

Headwater streams or brooks of Piesting are the Piesting ( from Kloster down to the local area of ​​good stone also known as Cold gear), the Steinapiesting and Längapiesting that arise north of the Schneeberg. They unite in the community Raimund Good stone.

In Pernitz the Myrabach opens into the Piesting. Hydrographic

The average discharge at the level Oed is about 2.7 m³ / s, while level Wollersdorf 3.3 m³ / s The last major flood events in the level Oed 88 m³ / s (7 June 2002) and 78 m³ / s (8 July 1997) were measured.

Previously conjectured that in Ebreichsdorf part of Piestingwassers underground flows into the cold aisle, which opens into the Schwechat. According to recent studies, however, the Cold program is an independent groundwater flow, which is not supplied by the Piesting. Nevertheless, the Piesting is often mistakenly referred to as the Cold gear.

In Wollersdorf is removed via the Tyrolean Bach Piestingwasser for artificial irrigation.
