Piet Steenbergen

Piet Steenbergen ( born November 28, 1928 in Rotterdam, † April 22, 2010 ) was a Dutch football player.

Biography

Steenbergen began after the end of World War II in 1946 his career as a football player at Feyenoord Rotterdam. In 1950, he was next to Arie de Vroet the first Dutch footballer who moved abroad and played a half years for Le Havre AC. However, he returned in the 1952 season after Feyenoord back and completed for the club as a right midfielder total of 229 games, scoring 25 goals.

He was also called twice in the Dutch national football team namely on April 16, 1950 during a friendly match against Belgium, and on 1 May 1955, Ireland. During his second deployment, he was also team captain.

After ending his active playing career he remained active for Feyenoord and was for four years the youth coach. During this period included, among other things, Wim Jansen to the youth team. After that, he was among the founders of the old boys' club (Oud- Feyenoord), in the former players of the first team regularly deny football games and tournaments. In addition, he also spent several years as a member of the board of Feyenoord Rotterdam.
