Pikk Hermann

Architectural History

The Tall Hermann was built as a high and slender watchtower 1360-1370. It was enlarged in the 16th century to its present height of 45.6 m. Its peak is 95 m above sea level. The Strong Tower " Hermann" was named according to medieval tradition.

The tower consists of ten floors and an observation deck. On it is a steep stone staircase with 215 steps.

The other towers of Tallinn's castle are the guy storms (1767-1773 removed ), Pils Scores and country crown.

Flag

Traditionally on the Long Hermann blowing the flag of the ruler of Estonia. For the first time there, the blue-black- white tricolor was hoisted Estonia on 12 November 1918.
