Pilz GmbH & Co. KG is a company in the field of automation technology with complete solutions for the security and control technology with headquarters in Ostfildern ( Germany ).

History

The entrepreneur Hermann Pilz founded in 1948 in Esslingen glassblowing. In the early postwar years, the manufacture of glass apparatus for medical and mercury relays were the focus. In the electronics industry, the focus shifted to the progressive miniaturization; Mushroom specialized besides switching devices and control systems, especially on the timing relay. In 1968, the first subsidiary in Austria, France and Switzerland were founded. The product range was expanded to include programmable logic control systems. 1970 Pilz developed a standard with Reihenbefestigungsmaß 35 mm, which later prevailed as the standard, and thus became the first manufacturer of DIN - electronic switching devices.

1987 Pilz developed the emergency stop safety relay " PNOZ ". 1994, the first subsidiary outside of Europe was founded in the United States. In 1997 Asia with Japan, South America in 1998 with Brazil. The fungal quality management system is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008.

The freely configurable, modular safety relay PNOZmulti in 2002 came on the market. In 2006, the safe camera system for 3 -D space monitoring SafetyEYE was developed. 2009 followed the configurable control system PNOZmultiMini and the automation system PSS 4000.

2012, the company invested claims to be 33 percent of sales in research and development.
