Pin Grid Array
A pin grid array (PGA, Eng. Pin - grid ) is a housing type for integrated circuits, which is used mainly for processors.
The circuit in the form of a silicon chip ( die) is mounted on a ceramic ( CPGA ), organic ( OPGA ) or a plastic -based substrate ( PPGA ), which is provided on one side with a number of contact pins (pins) via which the data, control and power supply lines of the circuit are passed to the outside.
These contacts can either be soldered directly into a printed circuit board or by means of a socket to be installed such as a ZIF socket.
