Pineau d'Aunis

Pineau d' Aunis is a red grape variety that is cultivated mainly in the French Loire wine region. The name derives from the medieval monastery Prieuré d' Aunis in Dampierre -sur -Loire near Saumur from. There the grape variety was selected from existing Rebgärten. However, the professional world is not quite sure whether it is a separate variety in question ( the Ampelograph Pierre Galet is of this opinion ), or whether it is a mutation of the variety Chenin Blanc. The area under vines was the early 1990s, yet at approximately 1000 hectares. In 2007, only 436 acres were raised. (Source ONIVINS, )

She was admitted into the red and rosé wines of appellation wines of Anjou, Coteaux du Vendômois, Touraine Rosé de Loire, Coteaux du Loir, Crémant de Loire and Valençay. The Pineau d' Aunis profitable results in lightweight, low-alcohol wines with a raspberry - aroma and slightly peppery notes that should be drunk in its youth. In the past, the species was displaced by the Cabernet Franc substantially.

In France, the clones 235 and 289 allowed for the development of quality wine.
