Pines of Rome

Pini di Roma, dt Pines of Rome, is a symphonic poem in four sets by Ottorino Respighi from the year 1924., You, together with Fontane di Roma ( Fountains of Rome) and Feste Romane ( Roman Festivals ), the Roman trilogy, to the best-known legacies of composers counts. The work was premiered under the baton of Bernardino Molinari on 14 December 1924 Teatro Augusteo in Rome by the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

The work consists of four movements:

The composer presented the following program ahead score:

" I. The pine trees of Villa Borghese. Between the pine trees of Villa Borghese, the children play. They dance Ring Around the Rosy, lead military marches and battles on and get drunk with their own cries like swallows in the evening; then they run away. Unexpectedly, the scene changes ... II pine in a catacomb. In the shade of the pine trees around the entrance to a catacomb, from whose depth penetrates a wistful song to us. It rises to a solemn hymn, and then fades away again. III. The pine trees on the Janiculum. A shiver goes through the air: in a clear full moon sway gently their tops of the pine Janiculums. In the branches of a nightingale sings. Use in the film
