The Pinnower Kiessee is arisen by gravel mining in open waters within the municipal area of Pinnow in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The lake is located about ten kilometers south-east of Schwerin and 1.3 kilometers from the eastern shore of Lake Pinnower in the Sternberg Lake District. The body of water is artificially created by the accumulation of groundwater in a gravel pit. Inflows and outflows do not exist. Currently (2008 ) measures of lake 1.2 km in length and up to 530 meters in width. More than half a million tonnes of gravel and sand are funded per year.

It is worth mentioning that the water level of the lake with gravel Pinnower 38 m above sea level. NHN about ten feet above the lake of Pinnower. Even small parts of the built-up area of the village Pinnow and running through the valley of the river location Bietnitz are despite the short distance below the water level of the gravel lake.
