Pinole is an American city in Contra Costa County in the U.S. state of California. It has about 19,500 inhabitants ( as of 2004). The city is located at the geographic coordinates 38.01 ° N, 122.32 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 34.4 km ².

History

In 1823, Ignacio Martinez built a hacienda at the site of the present Pinola. To the hacienda was built over time a small settlement, which grew rapidly with the connection to the railway network in 1878. In 1903 Pinola was then officially the status of a city.
