Development

The Piper Seminole first production was equipped with two 134 kW Lycoming O -360 - E1A6D engines. The propellers turned it in opposite directions in order to keep the aircraft in the event of engine failure easier to control.

The Seminole was certified on 10 March 1978, and launched in late 1978. The gross weight is 1723 kg ( 3800 lbs).

Later Seminoles were equipped with Lycoming O -360 - A1H6 engines produced.

The PA -44- 180T Turbo Seminole was certified on 29 November 1979, built 1981-1982. It has two turbochargers Lycoming TO- 360 - E1A6D, who provided a significant improvement in performance at higher altitudes. The gross weight increased to 1780 kg ( 3925 lbs) while the landing weight of 1723 kg ( 3800 lbs) remained the same.

The PA -44 has a high T-tail similar to that of Arrow IV and is similar to the Beechcraft Duchess.

The Seminole was built in the years 1979-82, 1989-90, and again since 1995.
