The Pirita River (Estonian Pirita Jogi German ( historically ) Brigitte Bach) is a river in Estonia. He is one of the largest rivers in Harju County.

The Pirita River originates at Moor Pususoo in a circle Järva, about 20 km north- west of Paid. Its length is 105 km. In Tallinn Pirita district ( German Saint Brigid ), he joins the Tallinn Bay and thus into the Gulf of Finland.

The catchment area of ​​the Pirita River covers 799 km ². He puts back a slope of 75 m. Its average discharge is 7-8 m³ / s

The two left tributaries are the Kuivajõgi and Tuhala Jõgi. The latter flows partially underground. Through a channel of water flowing out of the Pirita River in the lake Ülemiste, the most important drinking water reservoir of the Estonian capital. The last stretch of the river in the former Bridget - Pirita is partially under conservation.
